Thank you for sharing your experiences. One person's success story can be a powerful motivator to help others to change.
My husband weighed 599 in September last year. He weighs 510 as of last Friday, July 2, 2010. We are paying private school tuition with lifestyle changes such as not eating out and being more frugal in daily life. I weighed about 255 in September, and am now 230. We paid $1089 per month in tuition last year. It went up to $1146 starting last month. Our yearly raises covered the difference, but we continue to find frugal alternatives to expensive commercial/mainstream expenses, like Angel Food and thrift stores. I am looking for a better job so we will be able to pay for our younger daughter to go in 2 years. My triglycerides were 450+ last summer, but are now 150. My total cholesterol is 152. My goal is to lose another 40lb in the next 6 months, upgrade my wardrobe for a new job, and get a hairstyle that will help me in the job search. My husband wants to lose another 100 lb in the next year. In addition, we hope to pay down our debt. --Houston, TX
I lost 50 pounds going from 197lbs down to 147lbs by cutting out all sweets and soda, eating lean cuisine, smart ones or lean pockets for lunch and small portion of a normal dinner. If I craved something sweet, I'd have fruit or a yogurt and pretend it was pudding or ice cream!! Started walking with a friend and exercising while listening to my favorite music. I've gone from a size 16 down to a 6! I'm a 47 year old female and I feel better than I have in at least a decade! In February it'll be a year that I've maintained this weight, and it sure feels great to have people tell me I look hot!! --Rahway, NJ
I lost 35 pounds...went from 154 lbs to 119 lbs. Strictly with diet and exercise by myself. Went down 3 sizes from a 12 to a 6. Have maintained weight loss for over a year. SSHW gives you tools to create a path to success. --Newton, NJ
